About This Class

This course will cover planning and creating lists and document libraries, two of the most important components of a SharePoint site. The module will start with the basics of planning and choosing the right template for a list or library.

Learn about using metadata to improve modern list & library navigation. Go through the steps of creating and utilizing different types of columns, view configuration, and Managed Metadata.  Metadata navigation is covered as well, as well as the differences between organizing with folders and with metadata.

Column and view formatting is covered.  Learn about the basics and what you need to know about delving into advanced formatting.  Although we do not teach how to write code, we cover all of the concepts and resources possible, to achieve the desired conditional formatting.

This course also dives into all of the settings that can be configured for SharePoint lists and libraries.  Having an understanding of each of these settings is important in the management of sites and their lists and libraries.  This includes Content Approval, Validation, Versioning and much more, as well as examples of each.

Laura, what a great way to demonstrate the importance of metadata. I remember all the talk several years ago about flattening the file structure but never really understood how they were going about that. Your demonstration was well done, easy to follow, and very helpful. Nice job - thank you!
